Nick Salle
Tubed
Pleasant Valley on Fri. morning, picked up a mix of browns & bows, 7
in all with the largest being 15 1/2" brown.
Tried the wild trout section in the afternoon with no success,
talked with Gary from Brock's he said they weren't doing much better.
Took a drift boat trip with Tom Loe of Sierra Drifters, fished a
section in town. What a
gas, 30 fish brought to the boat, most fish were in the 13-16"
range. Nick picked up 2
20" 3-3 1/2lb fish while mine was a fat 22" 6lb. monster.
Tom supplies the gear, 9' 5wt Sages with Teeny 200 sink tips that
get the streamers he ties right down where the fish are.
He has the Lamsen reels drag set and we used them on the big
fish. He's got a sweet
thing going with the drift boat. We
fished about 3 water miles, saw 2 guys in a canoe that were doing more paddling
than fishing, and a grandpa with his 2 grandkids the whole day. Pretty
much had the place to ourselves. This
is a trip worth taking. We
told Tom that we tubed P.V. he said we would have been better off
keeping warm and fish the river before it enters the reservoir.
He was right! We
fished that Sun. morning, each picking up 4 fish on Zebra midges.
My best was an 18" 2lb. Brown, Nick got another 20" 3
lb. Alpers. It was a super
weekend.
